Choosing Lyon for your studies

Written by ESDES | May 3, 2021 3:14:00 PM

In 2021, Lyon maintains second place in the ranking of the best French student cities, and that's understandable!

"Paris but better!” The 180,000 students in the city have nothing to envy the capital and can study in an attractive, human-sized environment. Lyon offers a wide and varied range of cultural activities and attracts no less than 6.5 million visitors per year.

Teaching quality

Lyon is the second largest city in France with four universities: Claude Bernard University, Lumière University, Jean Moulin University and the Catholic University of Lyon. The university landscape is also made up of numerous business, engineering and other schools, so there is something for all interests.

A pleasant living environment

Lyon has all the positive aspects of a large, dynamic city and also those aspects of a city on a human scale. Let yourself be seduced by the slopes of the Croix Rousse, Old Town, the Fourvière hill, the Tête d'Or park or the banks of the Rhône and the Saône. At the merging of the two rivers, Lyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Cultural wealth

Throughout the year, cultural events punctuate Lyon's life, so you will never be bored. The biennial contemporary art and dance festival in Winter, the Nuits sonores in Spring and the Fête des Lumières in December, an event that attracts more than 1.8 million visitors from all over the world every year. The rest of the year, the cultural offering is just as rich and varied. You can go and see concerts at the Halle Tony Garnier or the Transbordeur, watch a play at the Théâtre des Célestins, see an opera at the Opéra National, enjoy the Nuits de Fourvière, the Woodstower and the Reperkusound or bargain hunting at the Vintage Fashion Market.

Dance, music, fine arts, fashion, theatre, gastronomy, design ... in Lyon the doors of culture are open to you!

Accessibility

Each of the 9 districts has its own life and identity, but the transport network makes it easy to connect them. You can also travel around the city by bike, an ecological and economical way to exercise. As a student, you can benefit from a Velo'v subscription for 15€ per year, and the 1000 km of cycle paths in the Metropole are just waiting for you.

ESDES established in the Lyon landscape

ESDES Business School is located on the Saint Paul campus of the Catholic University of Lyon - in the heart of the peninsula. You can get there by tram, metro, bus or bicycle; the business school is ideally located. You can get to Place Bellecour in 5 minutes, the modern Confluence district is just a stone's throw away and you can get to the Hôtel de Ville in 10 minutes.

Choosing to study at ESDES Lyon Business School is also choosing a dynamic and friendly city, a few hours away from the ski slopes or the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. In short, the city of Lyon is waiting for you!
