Amandine Sanrey is a French student who join the Bachelor in Business of Esdes in Annecy. On her second year, she, as every other Esdes students, got the opportunity to study one semester abroad. She chose to go to Argentina.

In second year of Bachelor in Business at Esdes Business School, you have the opportunity to go abroad for 3 months. Most of the time, the choice is complicated. New York? Too expensive (and I am not 21 years old yet...) Athens? Too close to home, I want to go explore this world, Buenos Aires? It is far away, not too expensive, and we can be 18 years old there! (if you know what I mean).

Buenos Aires: the perfect destination?

I can say that having lived there and traveled around Argentina, Buenos Aires is by far one of the best destinations for us students. Yes, the flight going there and back is expensive, but once you get there everything is cheap. When you get to Buenos Aires, you are obviously going to settle down in your flat (or house, who knows) and just breathe. You are physically alive, but I think your head is still in Europe time zone, take the time to acclimatize yourself to everything. No rush. Then you are going to want to eat, I bet you must be starving. The supermarket Coto is the cheapest you are going to get, or maybe if you are not bothered to make any food, just find a coffee around you and walk there. Fresh air (but not some much because it’s 40 degrees at that time). This is your first day, and you just need to familiarize with your neighborhood and settle in slowly.

Now that you know the town, and you’ve been to the most famous places, travel!

Buenos Aires is not the only wonderful place of South America. At only 1h50 by flight is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world: Iguazu. It is truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It goes on for 8 kms and has 3 walking trails. You can also go under the falls on a boat and get soaking wet! But where to stay? You can find lots of cheap Airbnb’s but be careful not too far because the cab prices go up!

Second place to go to: Salta. Salta is in North Argentina and a 1h30 flight from Buenos Aires. Many landscapes are breathtaking, and you can’t believe it actually exists. You can either rent a car for the day or do an excursion, and you have a whole plan mapped out. From there, you can go see the 7 colored mountains and Cafayate town and have a nice lunch near the main square. The whole day is pretty exhausting because you leave at 7am and get back at 9pm. But you came back with a head full of memories and amazing sights. Then you can go to the Salinas Grandes that are big baths of salt and clear blue water surrounded by mountains. Truly beautiful. The list could go on because Argentina is a big country.

What about outside of Argentina?

South America is a huge continent, but I can only tell you about Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. What a place. The ambiance when you get there and seeing the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and one of the 7 wonders of the world. I mean, what more could you ask for ? The caipirinhas are only 50 cents for 1L (Have I said too much?). Around Argentina, there is also Bolivia, Chile and Paraguay. More places to look forward to go to.

To conclude, being a student in a foreign country and far away of home isn’t easy, but you will never want to come back. The landscapes you see, the people you meet, the food you try, the places you discover, you just don’t want it to stop!

Studying abroad thanks to Esdes Business School

As I mentioned at the beginning, in second year of Bachelor in Business at Esdes Business School, you have the opportunity to go abroad for 3 months. You can choose between multiple destinations such as Roma, Athens, Hô Chi Minh, New York, Casablanca, Krakow, and Buenos Aires.

But this is not the only way to get to study abroad for one semester. Indeed, the students who choose the Grande Ecole Program also get the opportunity to do so in their 2nd year.

Know that you can have access to a lot of financial aid and the school helps you get all the paperwork done in time so that you can enjoy the experience the way you should!
